Keeping in mind that the blame and the credit, both balls will always be in your court.

Surround yourself with people who look out for you and be open to new ideas. Have heart to hearts with any confidant and explain your fears. A candid discussion will reveal that nothing has escalated beyond control and that it isn't too late to change the course. If you hold on to your problems and worries for a little longer and they will turn around.
